IMPORTANT NOTE:
ONE application required PER PERSON (even infants).
Please do not submit one application for the entire family – it will not go through or be received.
TIME COMMITMENT:
Mar. 6 – Apr. 3, 2010, excluding Sundays and Mondays.
(Also, a Feb. 27 rehearsal for dancers and angels).
REHEARSALS:
SATURDAYS: Mar. 6 and 13 (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
TUESDAY THRU FRIDAY NIGHTS: Mar. 9-20 (6:30-10 p.m.), excluding Sundays and Mondays.
In addition, angels and dancers have an all-day rehearsal, Saturday, Feb. 27., 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
PERFORMANCES:
All begin at 8 P.M. (with 6:30 p.m. MANDATORY cast devotionals)
ENGLISH: Mar. 24, 25, 30, 31, and Apr. 1, 2, 3
SPANISH: Mar. 26, 27
PUBLIC-INVITED DRESS REHEARSAL: Mar. 23
(6 p.m.- Cast Devotional; 7- English; 8:30 p.m.- Spanish)
You must attend ALL rehearsals, devotionals, and performances.
CALENDAR CONFLICTS:
Spring Break: Our dress rehearsals are during Spring Break. You may not miss a rehearsal, so if your stake, ward, school, or scouts have an activity or outing planned during Spring Break, you will need to wait and apply for Pageant another year. (We do not cast families who will need to leave teens home by themselves.)
General Conference meetings: The Mar. 27th Spanish devotional and performance will conflict with the General Young Women Meeting. Young women and leaders, please be aware that we need you at devotional and performance that night.
Our last performance, Apr. 3, does not conflict, time-wise, with the General Priesthood Session. However, a few of our cast members will have to miss that session in order to be performance-ready. We have been instructed by the Brethren to proceed with our pageant performances on both of these dates, since thousands of people are introduced to the Gospel of Jesus Christ because of our presentation. Both of these general church meetings will be available on-line and in the Ensign Magazine.
TRYOUTS (LIVE AUDITIONS):
To be considered for the cast, you must also attend tryouts either Nov. 6 or Nov. 7, 2009.
In order to be admitted to tryouts, you must have applied apply on-line during October.
NO APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AT LIVE AUDITIONS.
(Please note that tryouts involve meeting personally with the directors – no acting or singing is required.)
The application process is 3 steps FOR ALL AGES:

STEP 1: Print the Ecclesiastical Endorsement Form.

Click on the link provided later in the application, fill it out, and then request a meeting with your bishop or branch president. The form must be signed by a LDS bishop, or LDS branch president. If you are not LDS, go to www.lds.org to find the nearest meetinghouse. THEN BRING THE FORM TO LIVE AUDITIONS IN NOVEMBER.

If you don’t have a printer, please proceed with the rest of this application, then you can come back to the website later when you are at a printer, click on the link, and print the form. REMEMBER, YOU MUST BRING THIS SIGNED FORM TO AUDITIONS WITH YOU. YOU CANNOT AUDITION WITHOUT IT.

STEP 2: Complete the on-line application.

EVERY PERSON MUST SUBMIT INDIVIDUALLY and ON-LINE BY OCTOBER 31, 2009. After Oct. 31, no applications, either on-line, typed, or handwritten, will be accepted. No applications will be accepted at tryouts (live auditions).

PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU MUST HAVE ACCESS TO AN E-MAIL ADDRESS TO APPLY. There will be no post office mailings sent or accepted.

Once your application has been submitted, you will receive a confirmation number, as well as an e-mail, confirming that your application has been received. If you do not receive an immediate response back, giving you a confirmation number, or if you do not receive the e-mail, please either re-apply, or contact Stacy Offen at easterpageant@easterpageant.org.

KEEP THE CONFIRMATION NUMBER IN A SAFE PLACE – BRING IT TO LIVE AUDITIONS along with your Ecclesiastical Form.

STEP 3: Attend tryouts (live auditions).

Fri., Nov. 6, 2009 any time between 6-9 p.m. – OR
Sat., Nov. 7, 2009, anytime between 9 a.m. – Noon.
Location: Red Mountain Institute, 7146 E. McKellips Rd., Mesa, AZ 85207
(East of Power Road, off the Red Mountain 202 East)

No acting or singing is required at auditions, but attendance is mandatory, or you will not be cast. Dancers: come prepared to dance in MODEST dance attire; you must be at least 16 years old, with EXTENSIVE DANCE TRAINING.
Angels: ages 17-30; no dance training needed.

Times for main cast applicants are "come and go." Dancers and Angel applicants must come at specific times (schedule is posted later on this application).
As you proceed with this application, more detailed information will be included for each step above.
  • Under 18 years of age? You must have an adult, over 21, participate in the pageant and go through the above application process with you.
  • Families with very young children only? Be aware that nights can be late, cold, and wet, so this may not be the spiritual experience you expect. Please apply again when your children are older.
  • Age and gender breakdown? Most of our roles are for men (we need male adults, teens, and young adults). We cast a limited number of women and a very, very limited number of children under 12 years of age.
  • New cast members? We try to cast as many new people as possible. But we do cast a core percentage of former cast members and principal actors to give cohesiveness and help teach new cast members.
  • Physical limitations? You must be able to move very quickly up and down stairs and ramps. No eye glasses may be worn during performances.
